River of Orchids
This one reminds me of rivers, bloodflow, traffic (yes, more traffic metaphors), information streaming across a network. I'm calling it River of Orchids, after a song by XTC of the same name; it gives me the same feeling of a whole made from intertwining, overlapping parts of different sizes. However, the patterns here are a lot less ordered. In fact, they're pretty straightforward random sequences.

As with my previous experiments, I'm using randomness mostly because I don't have an interesting body of data to work from. Once I have found a reasonable source and a decent way of getting to it, I will be running more in that direction. An example of what I mean would be continuous network traffic data, like the really cool Carnivore clients at rhizome.org. Or maybe a really good chunk of stock market data. You get the idea.
